Garth graduated from the University of Canterbury with a Master of Commerce Honours degree having majored in Accounting. He thoroughly enjoyed the work environment and dealing with the agricultural community and shifted to Ashburton in 1980 to join Chilton Ross Co preparing financial statements for various farm related entities sole traders, partnerships, companies and trusts . He enjoys meeting people and assisting with the management, income tax financial planning associated with a large number of various clients. Jan contributes wide experience in farm, business and personal accounting with extensive income tax and GST knowledge. David joined Capon Madden in 2002 shortly after arriving from Zimbabwe where he had been farming and in retail business for 17 years.
Prior work experience included sales and marketing, industrial chemistry and science teaching. David qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2007, adding to his Science and Commerce degrees. Mark Cousins joined Capon Madden in 2010 and has been working as an Accountant since 2005. He has experience with farm accounting, business development and management accounting.
Mark is married to Andrea and has 3 children who keep him busy in his spare time in a sporty family. He attended the University of Canterbury graduating in 1979 with a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in accountancy. John was admitted to the Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1982 and joined Capon Madden limited in 1995. John has over 30 years’ experience in the accounting profession and specialises in farm and company accounting, income tax and payroll matters.
After graduating from University with a Masters Degree, David initially worked in the textile industry focusing on Human Resources, Industrial Relations and Training. He then took up employment as an accountant in a small to medium size company in South Africa for eight years before relocating to New Zealand and joining Capon Madden in 2008. Outside of work, Sam is heavily involved with sport playing rugby for local senior side Celtic as well as competing in boxing fights throughout the year. Jane rejoined Capon Madden part time in 2001 after taking time off work to start a family.
She enjoys the variety of accountancy from Investment, Trust, Business and Farming clients. After graduating from Otago University with a Bachelor of Commerce Fiona has had a varied career in rural transport and construction industries before returning to chartered accounting when she joined Capon Madden in 2003. With a rural background and a part owner in the family dairy farm she also has a keen interest in the financial management and income tax issues of the agricultural sector. As a mum of three busy children she spends most weekends at sporting events or assisting her husband in developing their lifestyle block.
Other interests include weekend excursions in their Ford Mustang and overseas travel. Ashleigh thoroughly enjoys meeting clients and looks forward to meeting all present and future Capon Madden clients. Outside of work Ashleigh is kept busy with her son Noah, and enjoys getting out walking and spending time with family and friends. The firm was founded in 1998 by David Capon and Garth Madden both in practice as Chartered Accountants

David and Garth purchased the house at 73 Burnett Street at auction and converted the building into an office space for their practice. The practice continued until approximately Christmas 2012 when Capon Madden located to temporary premises whilst the rebuild began
