You can experience the outstanding scenery, adventure activities and beach culture of whale bay by staying at the Kari oi Lodge and also enjoy shopping, cafes, markets and the other delights of Raglan township by taking advantage of our daily town run. Surf equipment hire is available for groups who don’t need a lesson and supervision. School groups The Huntley Kari oi Trust initially built The Kari oi Lodge in 1973 as a school camp. Daily beginner surf lessons, sports barn, bush walks, and wildlife viewing make outdoor entertainment a breeze for school groups. Kari oi Lodge The Kari oi Lodge sleeps up to 75 people in the main lodge plus those that the camper van sites accommodate.
We also give daily transport to sandy Ngarunui Beach halfway between town and Whale Bay. Lodge facilities and activities Groups can enjoy a large adventure playground at the Kari oi Lodge with mountain bike hire, bush walks, spectacular look outs, perm culture gardens, glow worms and sauna. We will supply you with all your surf equipment so that you can practice everything you learned in the surf lesson. Kari oi Lodge sleeps up to 75 people and is set on a 110 acres nature reserve in whale bay. Kari oi Lodge is home to the Raglan Surfing School which means we can give incredible value for money on surf packages for guests who wish to learn to surf and have a great store to stay! Surf packages offer the budding surfer the best opportunity for practicing the skills learned in the initial beginner lesson with all surf equipment, accommodation and beach transport provided during their stay. The Kari oi Lodge is ideally competent to accommodate any group seeking a exceptional venue that offers gorgeous mountain, ocean and native bush views, a merriment relaxed atmosphere, adventure possibilities, catering options, meeting and reception areas and fully equipped budget and luxury accommodation. We bear all transport to and from the beach as part of the surf package, and we’ll receive you at the superior time of the day for surfing where possible. You will find us located in Whale Bay, on a 110 acres of native New Zealand bush.
